    Description

    Offered is an original 1951 Baltimore Bullets program vs the Philadelphia Warriors unscored, tight binding, no missing pages.  Program is EX condition.  The Warriors would beat the Bullets in Baltimore 83-81.  HOF’er Jumpin’ Joe Fulks led the game with 19 points.
    A total of 8 autographs have been signed on the cover and throughout the program.

    Joe Fulks (D. 1976 at age 54 when he was shot and killed by the son of his girlfriend )  One of modern pro basketball's first scoring sensations and one of the top players in the NBA's early years, "Jumpin' Joe" Fulks' switch from the two-handed to the one-handed shot revolutionized shooting and scoring in professional basketball. A 1943 NAIA All-America at Murray State, Fulks moved on in 1946 to a highlight-filled professional career with the Philadelphia Warriors of the BAA-NBA. As a rookie, Jumpin' Joe led the BAA in scoring and the Warriors to the BAA title. In 1949, The Sporting News called Fulks "the greatest basketball player in the country." On February 10, 1949, he didn't disappoint his fans. Fulks scored a then-NBA record of 63 points against the Indianapolis Jets.
    Bill Closs (D. 2011) who played for the Indianapolis Kautskys, Anderson Packers, Warriors, and FT Wayne Pistons (1946-52).  He was a member of the 1949 NBL champs.
    Nelson “Nitzy” Bobb (D. 2003) – basketball player out of Temple who played for the Warriors from 1949-53.

    Walt Budko ( d. 2013)  was selected by the Baltimore Bullets in the 1st round (6th pick overall) of the 1948 BAA Draft. He played for the Bullets (1948–51) and Philadelphia Warriors (1951–52) in the BAA and NBA for 253 games. He coached the Bullets in the NBA (1950–51). Budko was the Baltimore Bullets’ second leading scorer in his 1948-49 rookie season playing in all 60 games. The Bullets took Budko as the sixth overall pick in the 1948 BAA Draft out of Columbia University. Walt played four seasons with the Bullets (1948-51) and the Philadelphia Warriors (1951-52). Among other greats, Walt played alongside Hall of Famers Paul Arizin, Joe Fulks, Andy Phillips and Buddy Jeannette. Walt Budko finished his career following the 1951-52 season with 2,037 points, 684 field goals and 471 assists.
    Gene James (D. 1997) played in the NBA for the Knicks and Bullets from 1949-51.
    Kenny Sailors (D.  2016) notable for popularizing the jump shot as an alternative to the two-handed, flat-footed set shot. Sailors grew up on a farm south of Hillsdale, Wyoming, where he developed his effective jump shot while playing against his 6'4" older brother Bud. He eventually brought his skills to the University of Wyoming, and in 1943 he led the Cowboys to the NCAA Men's Basketball Championship. Sailors was named the NCAA Basketball Tournament Most Outstanding Player for his efforts. He was the unanimous selection as College Basketball Player of the Year in 1943. He would earn the honor again in 1946. Sailors was the only player in the history of Wyoming Cowboys basketball to be selected as an All-American three times. He earned the honors in 1942, 1943 and 1946. From 1946 to 1951, Sailors played professionally in the BAA and NBA as a member of the Cleveland Rebels, Chicago Stags, Philadelphia Warriors, Providence Steamrollers, Denver Nuggets, Boston Celtics, and Baltimore Bullets. He scored 3,480 points in his professional career. In 2012, Sailors was named to the National Collegiate Basketball Hall of Fame.
    Don Rehfeldt (D. 1980 at age 53) was a two time Big Ten (then Western Conference) leading scorer in 1949 and 1950 and the Big Ten MVP in 1950 at Wisconsin. He was also a First Team All-American in 1950. Don is a charter member of the University of Wisconsin–Madison Athletic Hall of Fame, elected in 1991. He was most noted for his hook shot. Upon graduation in 1950, Rehfeldt was the Badger all time leading scorer and held 14 other individual records. He held the Badger record as its last All-American for 56 years until Alando Tucker was named a First Team All-American in 2007. Rehfeldt was the second overall pick in the 1950 NBA Draft by the Baltimore Bullets. After graduation he also played in the "World Series of Basketball" which was a nationwide tour that pitted the College All-Americans against the Harlem Globetrotters. Don was the leading scorer on that tour with other notable including top 50 all time NBA players Paul Arizin and Bob Cousy. He also played on the 1951-52 with the Milwaukee Hawks.
    Brady Walker (D. 2007) was selected in the 1948 BAA Draft by the Providence Steamrollers after a collegiate career at Brigham Young. He played for the Steamrollers, Boston Celtics, and Baltimore Bullets in his four-year BAA/NBA career
