Description
Made by the F.W. King Optical Company, these early aviator style glasses are stamped "Camp Perry", "King Model" and what I believe to be "Pat. 7-20-12" or "2-20-12". Camp Perry is a National Guard training facility on the shore of Lake Erie in northern Ohio. It has one of the largest outdoor rifle ranges in the world, and during World War I, Camp Perry served as a training center for Army officers and marksmanship instructors. These glasses come in their original case stamped with "Rifleite Shooting Glasses, The F.W. King Optical Co., Cleveland, Ohio". Also included are 2 vintage cleaning cloths: one Ray Ban/Bausch & Lomb; one L.J. Keis Scientific Optician, Quincy, IL.
The glasses are in good to very good condition for their age. Lenses have only minor scratching and the plastic coating on the temple arms is still intact. The case, on the other hand, is a little rough with apparent wear on both the outside and inside, but still fully functional. Cleaning cloths show wear as well.
Please view the pictures closely as they serve as part of the description, and feel free to contact me if you have any questions.
