BOB COUSY SIGNED BASKETBALL IS MY LIFE - 8TH, DJBob Cousy is recognized one of the greatest basketball players of all-time. Known ‘simply,’ as the “
Houdini of the Hardwood
” because of his superb ball handling skills. This in an era when the only players doing what "Cooz" could do were the famous Harlem Globetrotters. Cousy was named one of 50th Anniversary All-Time Team in 1996. He had an exceptional career with the Boston Celtics, leading the league an unprecedented 8 straight years in assists, playing on six NBA championship teams, and being voted into 13 NBA All-Star Games in his 13 full NBA seasons. He was also named to 12 All-NBA First and Second Teams and won the 1957 NBA Most Valuable Player Award.
This book is a classic from a long gone era. It is a delightful read about a great player, who participated on one greatest teams, in all of sports history !!!
The book is in very good condition and has the original dust jacket, in a mylar cover to protect it. The book was originally published in 1957 or 1958, depending on the source that you consult. This is Eighth Printing from August 1969. The book itself is very ‘solid’ and has no writing or internal markings. This copy must have been ex-library, as the first page (front endpaper), after you open the cover is torn as though ‘something’ was removed. Unusually, if ex-library, there are no other indications of such. The book is inscribed to me by Bob in ballpoint pen, NOT Sharpie. “To Brian - thanks for your interest Peace Bob Cousy.” Bob signed this in 1972 when I was visiting a good friend in Worchester, MA - Bob was his neighbor and a great and seemingly humble man. While Bob is still alive, no longer signs anything.
The Dust Jacket is good shape. It has several small tears and abrasion along the edges and spine. However, it is FULLY intact and overall this is a very nice, SIGNED copy of the book.
I am not book expert but a book LOVER. Please have a look at the pictures to supplement my comments and assess the overall condition. I state the book is in VERY GOOD condition. The book has been cared for by me and in my library for over 45+ years.
