1). I pulled the item from the Original Box for Photos and Inspection.  When I did this, I found a MINISCULE chip on the base that is shown in the pics.
2). I do NOT like the Original Packaging for shipping, and I WILL protect this Item MUCH more than it was protected prior to arriving to me.   Have no Fear, you will get ALL of the original packaging, too !!!

This German-made, ORIGINAL Römertopf comes with an all-natural glass frit glazed bottom (not a non-stick coating) for easy and quick clean up. The top (lid) is unglazed with very fine pores to absorb water.  This means that when put in the oven, the Romertopf creates a gentle layer of steam for succulent and juicy final results.
Easily holds 1½ quarts or a 3 lb chicken, roast, or chop ... which can generally serve 2-4 people.
Great item for small jobs, side dishes, or smaller size (heavier and more filling) full meals.
Fits great in a microwave, too !

Storage height is about 4.25“H when the lid is nested for storage.
Clay baker is Hand Crafted in Germany & designed for making tender beef roasts, chicken, fish, & pork dishes; as well as casseroles, desserts, soups, and a variety of bread dishes.
Lid is FULLY
Unglazed (on purpose) for the evaporation process that provides a greater degree of tenderness and moisture to the foods.
The bottom section is 'Glass Frit' glazed for ease of cleaning and complete retention of the flavors created.
Foods cook in their own juices, as pot creates a blanket of steam for fall off the bone results & crispy crusts.
To use, simply Soak Lid and Base in water for approximately 10 minutes before adding ingredients to be prepared, and remember to NEVER pre-heat your oven.
Oven safe up to 500°F.
