    Description

Ron Bone played 13 years in the ABA and NBA and set a record for most consecutive games played in professional basketball with 1041.
He is the ironman of pro basketball.
Undersized as a kid, Boone worked his tail off and ended up playing college ball at Idaho State in the Big Sky Conference from 1965-68, earning All-Conference honors in 1967 and 1968.
After graduating from Idaho State, Boone was drafted by both the Dallas Chaparrals and the Phoenix Suns in the ABA and NBA drafts.
He opted to play under Hall of Famer, Cliff Hagan in Dallas. He would go on to become a 4 Time All-Star in the ABA (1971, 1974-76), was ABA All-Rookie first team in 1969, ABA champion in 1971 with the Utah Stars, Selected to the ABA All-Time Team (top 30 players to ever play in the league), scored 17,437 points, 4,348 rebounds, and 823 steals in his career with the Dallas Chaps, Utah Stars, Spirits of St. Louis, Kansas City Kings, L.A. Lakers, and Utah Jazz.
    Boone finished 3
    rd
all-time in the ABA with 12,153 points behind Dan Issel and Louie Dampier.
He also finished 6th all-time in ABA assists (2,569), 5th in games played (662), 5th in minutes played (21,586), 2nd in personal fouls (2,245), and 1st in turnovers (2,327). Of the top five leading scorers in ABA history: Dampier, Issel, Boone,
    Mel Daniels
    and
    Julius Erving
, Boone is the only one of the five not in the
Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame
    .
In Terry Pluto's book on the history of the ABA,
    Loose Balls
, interviewees noted that Boone's nickname was "The Legend", because he always showed up each season in shape and always was remarkably consistent. At the time of his retirement, Boone had the distinction of having played the most consecutive games of any player in the history of professional basketball – 1,041 in a row between the ABA and NBA. This record has since been broken by
    A. C. Green
. However, Boone played at least 20 minutes in each game.
In 1988 Boone became a broadcaster with the Utah Jazz and partnered with “Hot Rod” Hundley for many years.
To this day, Ron still calls games for the Jazz.
Offered is his American Basketball Association (ABA) uniform player contract signed by Boon and Utah Stars president, Vince Boryla (D. 2016) who played for the NY Knicks from 1949-54 and was their coach from 1955-58.
Boryla was also selected to the NBA’s very first All-Star team in 1951. His son Mike became a Quarterback in the NFL with the Eagles. Attached is an addendum contractlisting out his salaries (the 1976-77 season was never played as the ABA merged with the NBA).
The addendum is again signed by Boone and Boryla.
ABA contracts rarely enter the market of any player.
Boone is an ABA legend (also his nickname).
